Use
5-(2,2,3-Trimethyl-3-cyclopentenyl)-3-methyl-pentan-2-ol is prepared by condensation of α-campholenaldehyde with methyl ethyl ketone, followed by selective hydrogenation of the resulting unsaturated ketone. The title compound can be used either in a pure state or as a mixture with its isomeric by-product in perfume compositions and soap perfumes.
