Description

A plant growth regulator, absorbed by the leaves and roots with translocation throughout the plant. The sodium salt is used to reduce apial dominance and promote side-branching and flower-bud formation on azaleas, fuchsias and other ornamental plants, and to retard temporarily longitudinal growth on hedges and ornamental shrubs. Also used to retard tree growth by trunk injection. An intermediate in the manufacturing of ascorbic acid.
