Description

Deferasirox is a synthetic, tridentate iron-selective chelator that dramatically reduces iron in the liver and blood, particularly during transfusional iron overload. It is orally bioavailable, effectively reducing liver, serum, and cardiac iron concentrations in conditions requiring blood transfusions, including β-thalassemia, allogeneic stem cell transplantation, and anemias associated with hematopoietic malignancies.
