Description

Pseudohypericin, an aromatic polycyclic dione originally extracted from Hypericum perforatum, has been shown to specifically inhibit protein kinase C with an IC50 value of 15 μg/ml. Experiments report that this compound has the ability to strongly inhibit dopamine-β-hydroxylase (D-β-H), induce apoptosis, and indicates cytotoxic characteristics against neoplastic cell lines. Additional studies suggest that Pseudohypericin also selectively antagonizes corticotropin-releasing factor in murine models.
