Reaction Conditions:

Stage #1: 2,5-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-1,4-benzenediolwith sodium hydride in N,N-dimethyl-formamide at 20; for 0.25 h;Inert atmosphere;
Stage #2: methyl iodide in N,N-dimethyl-formamide at 40; for 2 h;Inert atmosphere;Reagent/catalyst;Solvent;Temperature;

Steps:

1.2; 2.2; 3.2; 4.2; 5.2 (2) Preparation 2,5-Di-tert-butyl terephthalate

Dissolve 44.5g (0.2mol) of 2,5-di-tert-butylhydroquinone prepared in step (1) in 500g DMF, add 0.46g (19mmol) of sodium hydride under the protection of nitrogen, and stir for 15min at room temperature. Warm up to 40°C, slowly add 50ml (0.8mmol) methyl iodide dropwise, maintain the reaction temperature at 40°C, react for 2h, allow the system to cool to room temperature, slowly add 200g saturated brine to stop the reaction, the resulting mixture is extracted three times with 100g ethyl acetate The organic layer was washed three times with 100 ml of clear water and dried in vacuum to obtain 47 g of 2,5-di-tert-butyl terephthalate, with a yield of 94% and a total yield of 91%
