Chemical Properties
Clear, colorless, flammable liquid with a mild characteristic odor.
General Description
cis-1,2-Dimethylcyclohexane has been oxidized by O2 in the presence of iron(II)-bispidine complexes. It has been known to form plastic crystals which can be supercooled to show a glass transition at a temperature Tg.
Environmental Fate
Chemical/Physical. Complete combustion in air yields carbon dioxide and water vapor. cis-1,2- Dimethylcyclohexane will not hydrolyze because it has no hydrolyzable functional group.
