Use
Oleandomycin contains three hydroxyl groups that aresubject to acylation, one in each of the sugars and one in theoleandolide. The triacetyl derivative retains the in vivo antibacterialactivity of the parent antibiotic but possesses superiorpharmacokinetic properties. It is hydrolyzed in vivo tooleandomycin.
