Description

Eupatilin is an O-methylated flavone derived from Artemisia plants that demonstrates anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-tumor effects. It has been shown to induce apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase in human A375 melanoma cells. It is also reported to protect gastric epithelial cells from oxidative damage by down-regulating certain genes responsible for cellular oxidative stress. Furthermore, eupatilin has been identified as a selective PPARα agonist (IC50 = 1.18 μM) as well as an inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase (IC50 = 14 μM).
