Description

Lobeline hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt preparation of Lobeline, a potent agonist of the AChR (nicotinic acetylcholine receptor). Lobeline is demonstrated to increase 86Rb+ efflux at lower concentrations and to reduce 86Rb+ efflux at higher concentrations, suggesting a differential receptor subtype selectivity from nicotine and agonism through a non-nicotinic mechanism. Lobeline is also described to inhibit dopamine uptake into synaptic vesicles.
