Description

The receptor for NMDA is a glutamate-gated ion channel that has key roles in synaptic plasticity, memory acquisition, hyperalgesia, and allodynia. Ketamine is an NMDA receptor channel blocker (Ki = 1.2-2.5 μM, IC50 = 3.2-6.1 μM). (R)-Ketamine is about 4 times less potent as an analgesic than the S-enantiomer. It is a dissociative anesthetic that has analgesic properties at subanesthetic doses. Ketamine and its analog methoxetamine are abused recreationally. Ketamine is regulated as a Schedule III compound in the United States. This product is intended for forensic and research purposes.
