A yellow liquid with a meaty, spicy, slightly floral, woody taste and a strong fruital aroma reminiscent of pineapple
Preparation
By condensation of citral and allyl acetone in the presence of sodium methoxide and subsequent ring closure in the presence of boron trifluoride.
Safety Profile
A skin irritant. Combustible liquid. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes. See also ALLYL COMPOUNDS.
