Description

Naloxone is a potent antagonist of the opioid receptors (Ki = 3.7, 9.2, and 33 nM for the μ-, κ-, and δ-opiate receptors, respectively). It is used as an antidote for opioid overdose or for the prevention of overdose. Naloxone is also used in combination with buprenorphine in the treatment of opiate addiction and in pain management.
